Keeping your period cup clean is an essential part of the period cup routine, but it doesn't have to be a time suck. Here's our fave easy and effective ways to clean your cup, whatever the situation.

1. Classic Clean: Wash and Go

Sometimes, the simplest solutions are the best. Rinse your cup with warm water and our gentle Scarlet Cup & Hand Wash for a quick and thorough cleaning. This fragrance-free cleanser is formulated to be gentle on your cup and skin, leaving it fresh and clean.

2. Deep Clean: Microwaving Method

For a deeper clean, especially at the end of your period, microwave your cup using the Scarlet Steriliser Case. Place your cup in the case, fill it with water, and microwave it for one minute on high. Allow the cup and case to cool completely before touching. This method is convenient and effective for ensuring your cup is thoroughly sanitised for the next cycle.

3. Boil It: Stove-Top Method

The old-school way still works a charm. Pop your cup into a small pot, cover with water, and let it gently boil for 5–7 minutes. Just ensure it doesn’t stick to the bottom (keep it moving with a spoon if needed) and never leave it unattended. Once cooled, your cup will be fully sanitised and ready for your next cycle.

Remember, no matter which cleaning method you choose, always wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water before and after handling your cup. Additionally, empty and rinse your cup regularly throughout the day, depending on your flow.
