What Is PFAS, And Why Would It Be In Period Underwear?
PFAS is a large family of manufactured chemicals used for water and stain resistance. In period underwear, it can turn up in the waterproof gusset layer, the part built to stop leaks. Some manufacturers use PFAS-based coatings to get that leak-proof performance. Others don't need to.
How Do You Check If Your Period Underwear Has PFAS?
Look for a brand that states PFAS-free plainly, not buried in a footnote, and backs it with independent lab testing rather than a self-issued claim. If a brand only says "safe" or "non-toxic" without naming what was tested for, that's worth a follow-up question, not an assumption.
