Naturopath Georgina Phin reveals her favourite natural remedies and tips for balancing hormones and managing stress.
Name: Georgina Phin

Day job: Online Naturopath

What inspired your naturopathy journey?
I was always drawn to the gentle practice of naturopathy as it made a lot of sense to me to use herbs for support and healing. My mum also took me to a naturopath from a young age, and they made a huge difference to my health as a child. My journey has shaped my practice into a supportive, nurturing space where every client feels comfortable, heard, and educated.
Go-to foods or supplements for hormone health?
Essential Fatty Acids (EFAs) are among my favourite recommendations for hormone balance and health. They are crucial as they help regulate hormone production. Some foods rich in EFAs include avocados, fatty fish, walnuts, chia seeds, and flax seeds.
How does stress affect hormones, and how can you manage it?
Stress can lead to HPA axis dysfunction, causing increased cortisol levels that can significantly disrupt hormone balance. Techniques to reduce stress include self-care, exercise, mindfulness, time in nature, and seeing a psychologist.
Any daily habits for long-term wellness?
Daily sunshine exposure, movement, and grounding (walking barefoot on the grass).
What are your hopes for the future of period periods and period talk!?
I hope more women learn to understand their cycles and the benefits of herbal medicine on their cycles and reproductive systems. I also hope that talking about it becomes more normalized so no one- men included - ever feels uncomfortable discussing it.
MY CYCLE
My period in 3-words: Short, snappy, crave-y.
Period self-care toolkit: Superfeast ‘I am Gaia’ blend, clay face mask, Pilates Project app.
Best period hacks: Take it slow, warm, nourishing foods, hot water bottle (or try the new rae Heat Pad).
Contraception: Currently, the FAM Method. I had a copper IUD in the past and loved this too!
On day 1, you’ll find me: Cuddling up on the couch listening to my body, most likely with a cuppa and some chocolate.
Scarlet pick: Menstrual Cup and Boyshorts. The Boyshorts are so comfy - I particularly love them for lounging and sleeping!
