We didn’t just win Gold; rae was named Best in Class: Consumer Electronic Product of the Year 2025 at the Australian Good Design Awards, beating heavyweights like HP, XBOX, and Blackmagic. Not bad for a small, self-funded Aussie femtech brand born out of a need for better period care.
The Australian Good Design Awards are one of the world’s longest-running international design programs. They celebrate projects that make life fairer, smarter, and more sustainable. More than 80 global experts judge each entry on three key criteria: Good Design, Design Innovation, and Design Impact.
To be recognised here, in the same room as the world’s biggest brands, is huge. And for a product created from lived experience with period and pelvic pain, it means even more.
rae started as an idea on a bad pain day, a frustration with heat packs that leaked, cords that tangled, and designs that looked like medical devices. We wanted something different. Something that actually worked, but that you’d also want to be seen wearing.
Two years and countless prototypes, rae was born. A wearable heat pad that moves with you, looks good, and finally makes heat therapy feel... designed. As the Good Design Awards Jury put it: "Refreshing level of innovation and pleasant form with a sleek, compact design. Smart, innovative and impactful.”
