Period Swim Bikini Brief
After your swim, rinse your briefs in cold water until the water runs clear. Machine wash cold with a mild detergent - skip the bleach and fabric softeners to protect the leak-proof layer. Line dry for best results or tumble dry on low heat.
Period Cup
Your Period Cup has a complimentary Steriliser Case for easy cleaning and safe storage. Before first use, add a small amount of water to the Steriliser Case, place the cup face down inside, and microwave for 1 minute. Let it cool before handling. No microwave? No worries - we offer a variety of cleaning solutions to suit your needs.

Your questions, answered
HOW DOES PERIOD SWIM WORK?
Scarlet Period Swim and Underwear features multi-layered built-in leak-proof technology that absorbs and contains fluid. Our swimwear also has an added waterproof inner layer that stops any menstrual fluid from leaking and water from getting in.

WHAT DOES THE ABSORBENCY LEVELS MEAN?
Super Light: Holds up to 1 teaspoon, just slightly less than 1 regular tampon. Think of it as a new-age panty liner, so it’s great for spotting as well as light leaks and discharge. Try: Invisible Thong
Light: Holds up to 3 teaspoons, which is equal to 2 regular tampons or 1 pad. This is for light days to save you from pesky drips, discharge, and lighter flows. Try: G-String, Bikini Brief in Level 1 or Swim range
Moderate: Holds up to 5 teaspoons, which is equal to 3 regular tampons or 2 pads. Go for this on your moderate dates, or as extra defence on heavy days with our Period Cup. Try: High-Waisted Brief or Bikini Brief in Level 2
Heavy: Holds up to 7 teaspoons, which is around 4 regular tampons or 3 pads. Our heavy hitter makes them great for full-flow days and overnight. Try: Boyshort or Period Cup
DO I NEED TO WEAR A CUP, TAMPON OR LINER TOO?
Depending on the heaviness of your flow, you can wear it on your own or as backup protection with a Period Cup on moderate to heavy days.
If you plan on swimming, we recommend travelling with a water-resistant travel bag, such as our Toiletry Bag, along with your clean pair so you can easily and cleanly do a switcheroo.
DO I HAVE TO WASH THEM ASAP AFTER USE?
Some people like to rinse their underwear in the shower before throwing it into a Laundry Bag for wash day, while others don’t. Rinsing your underwear in the shower won’t affect its lifespan. When it comes to swimwear, it’s always best to give it a good rinse to remove any chlorine or salt water before stashing it in a water-resistant travel bag such as our Toiletry Bag until you get home.
Then, once you are ready, toss them in on a cold wash cycle with mild detergent (no bleach!). DW, your other clothes will be just fine! You have two options for drying: tumble dry on low or hang them out to dry in the sun.
TIP: if it’s your first wear, pop them in the washing machine with your next cold cycle - washing them before wearing activates their absorbency even more.
HOW DO I STORE THEM POST-SWIM?
We recommend travelling with a water-resistant travel bag, such as our Toiletry Bag, along with your clean pair so you can quickly and cleanly do a switcheroo.
HOW DO I PICK THE RIGHT SIZE FOR ME?
We get it — sizing for bottoms is anything but standardised. Which is why this size guide will help break it down for you. Please check both our numeric and letter sizes so there is no confusion (e.g., our large is a 12).
When in doubt, we advise you to size up. Still confused? You can email us for help at support@scarletperiod.com.
