Smoothies that soothe? Heck yes! My Moonbox Founder Nikki Gonda shares her favourite recipes packed with vitamins, fibre and minerals essential for healthy, happy hormones.

 

Cramp Crusher

THE FIX: Looking for something to down when those pesky period cramps strike? With a mix of bananas (rich in vitamin B6 and potassium), pineapple (for manganese to help any PMS-related irritability), Luna's Gold Superfood Blend (with anti-inflammatory turmeric and ginger), avocado (healthy fats and lots of yummo), Moonbox Earth Seeds (essential fatty acids, protein and fibre) and Spinach (fibre for a thriving gut microbiome) you’ll be drinking your way to a more bearable cycle.

THE MIX: Place all ingredients in a blender and blend on high for 3 minutes until a smoothie consistency.

  • 1 frozen banana
  • 1/2 cup frozen pineapple
  • 1 tsp Luna’s Gold Superfood Latte Blend
  • ½ avocado
  • 2 tablespoons Earth Seeds
  • 1 cup spinach
  • 1 cup filtered water or your favourite plant-based milk (soy, almond, oat etc)
  • Optional additions: 1 scoop plant-based protein powder or collagen powder.

THE FIX: Green smoothies can be delicious AND hormone-healthy! To make any smoothie hormone-healthy, make sure to include a good source of protein to stabilise blood sugar and keep you satiated, some fibre to feed good gut bacteria and promote healthy elimination of excess hormones, and, of course, some healthy fats to MAKE hormones and fight inflammation.

THE MIX: Place all ingredients in a blender and blend on high for 3 minutes until a smoothie consistency.

  • 1 small handful coriander leaves
  • 1 large handful English spinach
  • 1 tsp Luna's Gold PMS blend
  • 1 tbsp Earth Seeds
  • 1 scoop protein powder
  • 1/4 avocado
  • 1 small handful frozen blueberries
  • 2 Brazil nuts
  • 1/2 cup water
  • Ice cubes
